Notifications & installing on your phone
Browser notifications
If this instance has notifications turned on, a bell icon appears in the header. Select it once to turn notifications on for this browser — your browser will ask you to allow it. You'll get a notification when new mail arrives in a mailbox you can see, even when the app isn't the tab you're looking at. Select the bell again to turn notifications off. If the bell never appears, this instance hasn't turned notifications on.
The browser tab's title also shows your unread count in parentheses, e.g. "(3) Mail", so you can tell at a glance without the tab even being focused.
Installing on your phone
This app can be added to your phone's home screen like a regular app, so it opens full-screen without browser address bars:
- iPhone (Safari): open the site, select the Share icon, then choose Add to Home Screen from Safari's own menu.
- Android (Chrome): open the site, select the ⋮ menu, then choose Add to Home screen (or Install app, if Chrome offers it directly) from Chrome's own menu.
Once installed, it opens straight to your inbox and still receives push notifications if you've turned them on.
